1. Who we are and what this notice covers

EWI Surrogacy LLC, doing business as EWI Family Global (“EWI Family Global” or “EWI”), handles personal information in connection with our surrogacy, egg-donor, sperm-donor, and intended-parent services. This notice explains the information we collect, why we use it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

This notice applies to our websites, application and inquiry forms, social-media pages, and communications, including interactions through our advertisements. It covers both online and offline information we handle in providing our services.

Independent clinics, professionals, and third-party websites or platforms have their own privacy practices. Their handling of information is governed by their notices and any authorizations you provide to them.

2. Information we collect

The information we request depends on your relationship with EWI and the stage of your inquiry or application. Required fields are marked on each form. We may be unable to review an application or provide a requested service without the information needed for that purpose.

Identity and contact information

Names, email addresses, telephone numbers, date of birth or age, mailing address, city, state, country, and contact preferences.

Application and background information

Program preferences, education, physical characteristics, race or ethnicity, prior donation experience, referral information, and application answers. We also maintain application status, review notes, and information needed to coordinate your participation.

Health and reproductive information

Medical and reproductive history, health conditions, lifestyle and screening answers, and relevant records, depending on the program and stage of your application.

Health, reproductive, racial, and ethnic information can be sensitive personal information. We use it for the stated application, screening, and service-coordination purposes, with the consent or other authorization required by applicable law.

Photographs and documents

Photographs and documents provided in connection with an application or service. Use of your image or profile for publicity is subject to the permission you provide for that purpose.

Communications and service records

Messages you send to our team, appointment details, support requests, communication preferences, and records of consent and withdrawal. Where relevant to an ongoing service, records may also include agreements, payment or reimbursement information, and related administrative details.

Website and device information

IP address, browser and device type, operating system, approximate location derived from an IP address, pages visited, referral URLs, timestamps, and diagnostic information. Cookies and similar technologies may record how you reached and used our websites, as described in Section 7.

3. Where information comes from

  • From you: applications, inquiries, documents, and communications with our team.
  • From your interactions with our websites: browser, device, referral, and activity information collected through the technologies described in Section 7.
  • From social-media and advertising platforms: information you submit or make available to EWI through those services, subject to your settings and the platform’s practices.
  • From authorized service participants: information from clinics, screening professionals, or representatives when you authorize the disclosure or applicable law otherwise permits it.

4. How we use information

  • Receive inquiries and review and manage donor, surrogate, and intended-parent applications.
  • Contact you about your inquiry, missing information, appointments, or next steps.
  • Coordinate screening, consultations, and services you request.
  • Maintain records, respond to support requests, and administer agreements or payments where applicable.
  • Record and honor communication preferences, consent, and opt-out requests.
  • Send promotional communications when permitted and consistent with your choices.
  • Understand website performance and the effectiveness of advertising, subject to applicable choices.
  • Protect systems, investigate misuse or fraud, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations.

We provide further notice or obtain consent before using information for a new purpose when required by applicable law.

6. When we share information

Service providers

We use service providers for hosting, application management, communications, storage, security, and administrative support. Their access to information is limited to their services for us and applicable contractual or legal requirements.

Screening and service coordination

We may share relevant information with clinics, laboratories, attorneys, and other professionals involved in services you request, subject to applicable authorization and confidentiality requirements. If you authorize presentation of a donor or surrogate profile to intended parents or other program participants, the information shared follows the scope of that authorization.

Legal requirements and business changes

Information may be disclosed to comply with law or a valid legal process, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud, or establish or defend a legal claim. A merger, financing, or transfer of business assets may involve information subject to appropriate confidentiality protections and applicable notice requirements.

Advertising and mobile information

Advertising-related disclosures are described in Section 7. We do not sell health answers, reproductive histories, or application photographs, or provide them to advertising platforms for targeting. The additional restrictions on mobile information and SMS consent in Section 8 apply across the sharing categories in this notice.

7. Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Cookies and similar technologies support website functions, security, saved preferences, analytics, and advertising. The tools in use may vary across our websites and forms.

EWI uses social-media advertising, including Facebook and Instagram. Advertising and analytics providers, including Meta and Google where enabled, may receive device, browser, referral, and interaction information to measure website use and advertising effectiveness. Their processing is also subject to their privacy policies.

We do not provide health answers, reproductive histories, or application photographs to advertising platforms for targeting. Advertising-related uses of other personal information are subject to applicable consent and opt-out choices.

Some advertising disclosures may count as a sale or sharing of personal information under state privacy laws even when no money is exchanged. Where applicable, you may opt out of sale, sharing, and targeted advertising. You may contact us to make that request and use any cookie or privacy controls provided on the website you visit. Browser controls can also block or delete cookies, although some site functions may be affected.

You can review Google’s practices at Google Privacy Policy and its analytics browser opt-out at Google Analytics Opt-out. Social-media platforms provide additional advertising preferences within their own services.

Browser privacy signals

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are different signals. Where applicable law requires recognition of Global Privacy Control or another valid opt-out preference signal, that signal must be honored for the covered sale, sharing, or targeted-advertising processing.

8. SMS terms and mobile privacy

Program

EWI Family Global sends text messages to surrogate applicants who opt in. Texts come from +1 888-394-3010 and cover your application: confirmation that we received it, status updates, scheduling and reminders for calls and appointments, next steps, and replies from our staff. We do not send marketing texts.

Your choice

You opt in only by checking the SMS consent box on our application form and submitting the form. Consent is optional and is not a condition of applying or receiving services. Giving your phone number alone does not sign you up.

Frequency and charges

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Stopping messages and getting help

Reply STOP to any message to opt out. You get one reply confirming the opt-out, and we send no more texts to that number. To opt back in, reply START or UNSTOP. Reply HELP for help, or contact us at info@ewifamilyglobal.com or (626) 346-0122. Full terms: https://ewi-surrogacy.com/terms

Health information

Our texts do not include medical details. Please do not send medical records or health information by text.

Information we keep

When you opt in, we record your mobile number, the consent text shown to you, the date and time, and the form you used. We also keep records of texts, opt-outs, and help requests. We use this information only to send the texts you asked for, honor your choices, and meet legal requirements.

Mobile information and consent

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Our text messaging provider and wireless carriers handle your number only to deliver our texts. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.

9. How long we retain information

We retain information for the purposes described in this notice and for applicable legal, contractual, accounting, or recordkeeping requirements. The period depends on the type of record, whether an inquiry or application remains active, the services provided, and any need to resolve a dispute or comply with a legal hold.

Application records, health-related documents, financial records, technical logs, and consent records may have different retention periods. When information is no longer needed, we delete it, de-identify it where appropriate, or restrict its use while deletion from backups becomes practicable.

An opt-out may require us to retain limited contact information in a suppression record so that we do not contact you again. You may ask about retention or request deletion through Section 13. We will explain any applicable exception that prevents us from deleting information in response to a request.

10. Security and international processing

We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration, or disclosure. Access is limited according to the responsibilities of personnel and service providers. No website, transmission method, or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

EWI operates in the United States. Information may be handled in the United States and in other locations where authorized service providers operate. Applicable requirements for cross-border processing, contractual protections, and sensitive information must be observed. You may contact us with questions about the handling of your information outside your place of residence.

11. Children and minors

Our donor and surrogate recruitment services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly solicit applications from or market those services to children under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information through our recruitment forms, contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deletion where required.

12. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live and which laws apply to EWI’s processing, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; withdraw consent; object to or restrict certain processing; and opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain significant automated decisions. Applicable exceptions and verification requirements may limit particular requests.

United States residents

Where applicable state law provides these rights, you may request information about categories of personal information, sources, purposes, and recipients; ask to correct or delete information; obtain a portable copy; and exercise applicable opt-out rights. California residents may also have rights to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information. EWI will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

California residents may request information about qualifying disclosures for third-party direct marketing under California’s Shine the Light law. Where applicable, an authorized agent may make a request on your behalf, subject to verification of their authority.

Canada and other jurisdictions

Where applicable law grants them, rights may include access to information, correction, withdrawal of consent, and the ability to challenge how information is handled. Contact us to request the rights available in your jurisdiction or raise a concern. You may also contact the relevant privacy regulator.

13. Privacy requests and appeals

Contact EWI using Section 15 and describe whether you want to access, correct, delete, or restrict information, withdraw consent, or opt out of advertising-related processing. Include enough information for us to locate your record and respond.

We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity or an agent’s authority before disclosing or changing a record. We use information supplied for verification for that purpose and related security needs. Verification requirements differ by request type.

We respond within the period required by applicable law and explain any permitted extension or denial. If you have a right to appeal, reply to our response or contact us with “Privacy appeal” and the details of your request. We will review the decision and explain the result. You may also raise a complaint with your state attorney general or other relevant regulator.

Marketing emails include an unsubscribe method. Stopping marketing messages does not automatically delete an application or prevent communications necessary to respond to a request or administer a service. SMS withdrawal follows Section 8.

14. Changes to this notice

We may revise this notice when our services, practices, or legal obligations change. The published notice will show its effective or revised date. For material changes, we provide additional notice or obtain further consent when required. A revised notice does not retroactively expand the permission you provided for SMS or other processing that requires consent.
